Haiti Mission Trip

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, yet it only sits 700 miles off our coast. Every February, since 2012, a team from Living Water Lutheran goes on a mission trip to Guitton Haiti through our mission partner SMI Haiti.  2017 was our best trip ever!  This year, we were joined by other NALC churches in the SW Ohio District: Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jackson Center and Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria as well as other non-Lutheran churches: Silver Grove Baptist Church of Oregonia, Union Avenue Baptist Church of Memphis, TN and 5 people from Louisiana who are members of the Church of God.  Additionally, from the North American Lutheran Church (NALC) staff, we were able to have Bishop John Bradosky, his wife Kristi, and Pastor Brad Hales of Reformation Lutheran Church in Culpepper, VA. WHAT A FANTASTIC GROUP!!
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS: Bishop John led a 2-day pastors’ conference and assisted in the baptism of five local Haitians in the ocean; pictures and medical records were updated at the Bon Repos Orphanage; a prenatal conference was hosted at the area clinic; a group worked side by side with area Haitians in clearing a plantain field for a new clinic, housing and church in the village of Kamitan; village walks to get to know the local people better; attended an after school Girls’ Club gathering; updated school pictures for the Guitton School; and, of course, hanging out with the kids of Guitton!

India Mission Trip

India Mission Team PRAISE Report – Thank the Lord and sing His praise, tell everyone what He has done…   With the money from our gift wrapping at Barnes and Noble, along with $ 500 from the Thrivent Choice Dollar group, plus the generous gift from Amy Stallard and the outpouring of donations from members of our church family, we have a total of $ 2,560.50 to bless the ministries of United Evangelical Mission, God’s Mission in India. The money raised will pay for gifts that keep on giving…
Sewing machines will be given to 5 destitute women trained in tailoring to use in their homes to provide a better way of life for their families.  A washing machine and a water purifier will be purchased for the New Life Children’s Home in Bangalore.  A steel cupboard for storing books/Bibles/and files; also a ceiling fan and one pedestal fan will be provided for the Community Based Child Care Center in Agra. Thanks to everyone who gave of their time, talents, and treasures.  We are all better together as one in faith, one in love, one in mission.
UNIFORMS FOR CHILDREN…When I was in India visiting the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) ministries, I was given a wonderful “Thank You” card from UEM and the children who now have received their new school uniforms. I was thanked, as well as our India Mission Team, but most importantly, great appreciation was extended to you members of Living Water who so generously gave the money to purchase the uniforms.
Thank you for your continued support of God’s Mission in India.  View the “Thank You” card on a shelf in the hallway at church.  See the photos of all the children, ever so happy to have received their first school uniform.
Ever grateful, Pam Charas, India Mission Team leader
